Witnessing a presidential inauguration is an experience students will always remember. 

Below is a sample 4-day itinerary for a school group visiting Washington DC during the presidential inauguration. This itinerary can be customized to the interests and needs of your group.

Presidential   Inauguration   Itinerary: Day   1

Travel to Washington DC today by private motor coach. Enjoy meals and snacks en route at restaurants of your choice.

Feel the excitement in the air as you arrive in our nation’s capital.

Stretch your legs and soak in history on your guided tour of the Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, and Vietnam Veterans Memorials.

Check into your hotel and relax for the remainder of the evening.

 

Presidential   Inauguration   Itinerary:   Day   2

Fuel up for your exciting day with a hearty breakfast at your hotel.  Depart for the Inaugural events.

Make your way to the grand stands near the United States Capitol and get ready to witness history being made.

Watch the elected President and Vice President take their Oath of Office.

Listen to the Presidential Inauguration Address and wave your American flag.

After the ceremony, enjoy lunch at a location of your choice.

Then, find a great place along Pennsylvania Avenue to watch the inaugural parade.

Wave to the President and first family as they walk along Pennsylvania Avenue towards the White House.

After the festivities, have dinner with your classmates at a location of your choice.

Enjoy a guided twilight tour of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.

Then, return to your hotel to rest.

 

Presidential   Inauguration   Itinerary:   Day   3

Start your day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel.

Then, visit the International Spy Museum.

Enjoy lunch at the Smithsonian National Museum of Air and Space.

Spend the afternoon on the National Mall visiting some of the most famous museums in the world, such as
Smithsonian National Museum of Air & Space, US Holocaust Memorial Museum,  Smithsonian National Museum of American History, Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, and the National Archives.

Visit historic Union Station® where you will have dinner at a restaurant of your choice.

After dinner, enjoy a guided tour of the National World War II Memorial.

End the evening taking in spectacular views of the city from the terrace at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

 

Presidential   Inauguration   Itinerary:   Day   4

Discuss the highlights of your trip over a wonderful breakfast at your hotel.

After loading the luggage, depart for touring.

Visit the Marine Corps Memorial. Then, take a guided tour of Arlington National Cemetery. Pay respects to President John F. Kennedy, Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, and soldiers from every war in American history.

Depart the city and enjoy meals en route at restaurants of your choice.

Return home to tell your parents all about your experience at the inauguration!
