Performing at Walt Disney World is a magical experience students will never forget. In an effort to continue bringing more magic to every guest’s experience, Walt Disney World now offers MagicBands. A MagicBand is a colorful wristband that connects you with all vacation choices made through My Disney Experience. This all-in-one device can be used to enter parks, unlock your Disney resort hotel room, and access the advanced FastPass+ reservations that you made online.
While these features are intriguing, customizing MagicBands for student groups can present unanticipated challenges for group leaders. Some features and functions of My Disney Experience are only available guests 18 and over. Additionally, students under 13 years of age are not permitted to create a My Disney Experience account. Â Depending on your degree of customization, the process for setting up MagicBands can be very time intensive.
Before holding your first parent trip meeting, we encourage group leaders to review the routes outlined below and decide which plan they would like to follow based on their interest and available time. Since each traveler must create their own My Disney Experience account with corresponding password, there are limitations to the involvement Scholastica Travel can have in its set-up.
Plan Green
What to Know:
- Most groups use this plan.
- Plan Green does not register Theme Park tickets to a MagicBand. Individuals (including those under 18) can begin reserving access to FastPass+ reservations 30 days in advance of their arrival with a valid Theme Park ticket linked to their My Disney Experience account.
- If a group is staying at a Disney resort property, MagicBands would be used for their room key only. MagicBands can be picked up at the hotel property upon arrival. Talk to your Scholastica Travel consultant about the available MagicBand colors for your group.

What to Know:
- Group leader and chaperones make FastPass+ selections on behalf of the students in their group.
- Plan Red does not register Theme Park tickets  or FastPass+ selections to a MagicBand.
- Group leaders and chaperones can begin reserving access to FastPass+ reservations 30 days in advance of their arrival.
- Student My Disney Experience accounts must be connected through “My Family and Friends” to make reservations on behalf of your group.
- If a group is staying at a Disney resort property, MagicBands would be used for their room key only. MagicBands can be picked up at the hotel property upon arrival. Talk to your Scholastica Travel consultant about the available MagicBand colors for your group.

What to Know:
- This process can be very time intensive.
- Group leader and chaperones plan all experiences in advance including FastPass+ and MagicBand selections.
- MagicBands are linked to Disney resort hotel room keys as well as Theme Park tickets and FastPass+ selections.
- Group leader breaks total group into smaller chaperone groups. Each chaperone must link his/her My Disney Experience account to the student My Disney Experience accounts within their group to make FastPass+ reservations on their behalf. Students under 18 are not permitted to have a hotel room key registered to their MagicBand unless their are connected to an adult over 18 through “My Friends and Family”.
- Group leader and chaperones can begin reserving access to FastPass+ experiences 60 days from the group’s arrival date (valid Theme Park tickets required and tickets must be tied to room reservation) after connecting to their students through “My Friends and Family”.
