In honor of the new year, we have started a Bucket List Destinations (+ many great travel tips!) series with the goal of inspiring you to cross off one of those “places I’d like to go someday” in 2014. As you can imagine, we think about amazing trips every single day at Scholastica but there is always more we crave to see and do. For us, there is a lot of truth to the saying, ” I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list”. Can you relate?

Q: Where have you always dreamed of traveling? A: Hawaii has always been a destination I have dreamed of traveling. I love beach vacations. I love summer weather, the sound of the waves is so calming and relaxing, fresh pineapples and coconuts, a luau, everything just sounds so appealing! Whats better than sunshine and a sandy beach!

Q: Do you prefer to travel for adventure or relaxation?  I prefer to travel for relaxation. Life is busy enough!

Q: What are some of your favorite travel memories or experiences?

A: We have always taken beach vacations with my Dad. It was his special “treat” to “his girls” to take us to the beach. Now that he is no longer with us, my sisters and I, along with our families carry on the tradition. It is so wonderful to spend the time together, all under one roof. Nothing beats waking up in the morning with your whole family together.

Q: What advice can you offer to travelers who want to make their travel dreams a reality?

A: Everyone should set aside at least one week a year to travel. I tell myself you need this relaxation for your own peace of mind, away from all the hectic day to day life. If you can travel off-season there are usually great deals.
