Scholastica’s tour leaders are more than guides; they are on-site tour coordinators. Your tour leader will accompany the group for the tour duration, staying at the same hotel and often traveling with the group to and from their departure location. Should an urgent situation arise, the tour leader is right there to handle it.  In an unfamiliar place, the presence of a knowledgeable tour leader can make all the difference.

Scholastica hires nighttime supervision to patrol the hallways from late evening to early morning for the safety and security of the students. Everyone, whether at home or on tour, can rest peacefully knowing that an adult will be supervising the students from the time they leave their school until the time they return home. Group leaders and chaperones can begin each tour day with a full night of rest, ready to explore.

Scholastica upholds an extensive vendor selection process. We diligently select hotels,  considering all aspects pertaining to the safety and  comfort of our travelers. Rooms are always requested to be non-smoking, on the second floor or higher, and without outdoor access.

Scholastica provides lanyards for every student on a school trip. On the back of the name tag is contact information for Scholastica’s 24-hour emergency assistance team, chaperone and emergency contact information, as well as our insurance policy number.

Scholastica Travel Inc is covered by $3,000,000 in general liability insurance.

Each traveler is covered by $5000 emergency accident, $1000 life, and $250 emergency dental insurance.

Travelers also have the option to purchase additional insurance at the time of registration.

These collective and consistent efforts ensure that safety stays top of mind for our entire organization.

Weekly: Each week, Scholastica Travel holds a company-wide “Safety 10” meeting. The team reviews which groups are departing, incidents or near-misses from the week prior, and a company best practice.

Monthly: Each month, the team meets for an hour-long education session tailored for Scholastica and facilitated by Cornerstone Safety Group.

Annually: Each year, the team participates in a crisis response simulation to put our crisis response plan into action and ensure that it is current.
