Explore the natural beauty of the Mountain State during this 3-day West Virginia school tour.   See the sights and heights that make West Virginia “Wild and Wonderful”.

West   Virginia   School   Tour:   Day   1

Start your trip at the New River Gorge Canyon Rim Visitor Center. Take in the magnificent views of the canyon from the deck and explore the exhibits of the visitor center. How was this great canyon formed?

Then, meet your park ranger for a hike and discussion about the gorge and wildlife of the area.

After, board your private motorcoach and travel to Beckley, West Virginia.

Visit Tamarack and watch the artisans at work.

Enjoy lunch at a location of your choice.

Next, depart for the the Exhibition Coal Mine. Ride through the dark passage of a vintage coal mine during your tour experience a Don’t forget your jacket! The temperature drops as you go underground. Veteran miners are your guides and give firsthand accounts of the daily responsibilities of miners.

Travel to White Sulphur Springs for the Greenbrier Inside Out tour.

After a big day of exploring, relax and unwind at a sit-down dinner in Lewisburg.

Check into your hotel for the evening.

Rise and shine! Day 2 begins with a delicious continental breakfast at the hotel.

Check out of the hotel and load your luggage before departing for touring.

First up is a tour of the Lost World Caverns. Descend 120 feet below the surface to see a world of stalactites and stalagmites up close.

Then, we’re off to Hillsboro to experience Droop Mountain Battlefield State Park. Meet your park ranger for a tour of the area and a discussion of the significance of the battle.

The Pretty Penny Cafe will be providing a box lunch for all to enjoy.

Next, visit Cranberry Glades Botanical Area. A ranger will lead you on a tour of the area. You don’t want to miss the snake presentation at the nature center!

Afterwards we’ll travel to Snowshoe Mountain.

After a hearty buffet dinner,  you will have free time to tour the resort with your family or a group of friends.

Check-in to Expedition Station at Snowshoe for the evening.

Start the day a delicious breakfast before check-out.

Then, enjoy the beautiful landscapes of West Virginia during a Cass Scenic Railroad ride.

Next stop is the Science Center at Green Bank. Enjoy the interactive exhibits at Catching the Wave, designed specifically for K-12 students.

Lunch will be a location of your choice.

After, depart for Spruce Knob in Western, WV. At 4,863 feet, Spruce Knob is the highest point in West Virginia.

Then, travel to Seneca Rocks and take in the gorgeous views of the area. The rocks are a magnificent formation rising nearly 900 feet above the North Fork River.

What a trip! It’s time to return home from your West Virginia school tour.
